Brief History:
Beyoncé is an American singer and songrwriter, who made her debut as a member of the all female group Destiny's Child in 1997. In 2003 while Destiny's Child was on hiatus, Beyoncé released her first solo album titled Dangerously In Love. Since then, Beyoncé has released five solo albums and is set for a world tour this year.
The Evolution of Beyoncé’s Career:
Over the years, Beyoncé has become "creative tour-de-force" and a "defining artists of our generation" (Beyoncé). She has made several strides in the music industry and pushed boundries as a musician. For example, to date, she has won 17 Grammy Awards and numerous other awards (Beyoncé). At the end of 2013, Beyoncé rocked the world with the release of her fifth self-titled album that included 14 songs and 17 music videos (Beyoncé). This album was released without any promotion whatsoever, stunning the world with her incredible risk. Despite the risk, the album BEYONCÉ is "the fastest-selling album in iTunes history" (Beyoncé).

"Ring the Alarm"
In 2006, this music video was released on Beyoncé's second album titled B'day. With its punk rock influences, the song was quite different than her usual soulful R&B work, which garnered mix reactions from some critics and fans. Nevertheless, the song was a hit: "Ring the Alarm" received a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
"Move Your Body"
In 2011, Beyoncé joined forces with Michelle Obama to promote the First Lady’s Let’s Move! campaign, which is intended to inspire American children to be more physically active. The singer reworked one of her original songs (“Get Me Bodied”) in order to create this music video titled "Move Your Body" (Ulaby).
"Formation"
On February 7, 2016, Beyoncé released the "Formation" music video just 24 hours before she performed at the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show. The performance has received an incredible amount of attention, sparking a large national discussion not only about Beyoncé as an artist but also social and political messages shared by public figures. Ultimately, this attention highlights how music can serve as a powerful rhetorical device.
