Conclusion
Since the beginning of her solo career in 2003, Beyoncé has taken several strides in the spirit of activism, which has been reflected greatly in her music. The release of her fifth album is one of the clearest examples of a shift in rhetoric and further exemplified in her performance at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. Earlier this year, Beyoncé's performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show sparked more reactions about the social and political messages depicted in her music. To say the least, Beyoncé has demonstrated how music, specifically music videos, can be an interesting and compelling rhetorical artifact.
The goal of this project is to determine how Beyoncé's music videos serve as a rhetorical artifact and how the message influences feminist rhetorical theory. Through a feminist rhetorical lens and analysis using Kenneth Burke's Dramatistic Pentad, this project explored Beyoncé's music, ultimately demonstrating how music can be powerful rhetorical device that can be informative and persuasive.
